Dynabolt (often written DynaBolt) is Ramset’s brand of sleeve anchor for medium-duty fixings into concrete and masonry. It is one of the most-searched anchor brands on Australian sites, used for fixing timber framing to slabs, hanging brackets and rails, and similar non-critical structural duties.

What it actually is

The brand is the wrapper; the engineered product is a sleeve anchor, a torque-controlled expansion anchor that expands a metal sleeve against the hole wall as the nut is tightened. Sleeve anchors sit between dynabolt-class screw-in fixings and the heavier wedge anchor (Trubolt) class in capacity.

The full picture (how the sleeve mechanism grips, hole prep, torque, where sleeve anchors suit vs wedge vs chemical anchors) lives in the canonical article: sleeve anchor.

Why the brand matters

  • Light-to-medium-duty fixings only: Dynabolt is typically the right call for sole plate-to-slab tie-down, gate frame to brickwork, light bracket fixings. For structural anchors (post bases, balustrade-to-slab, plant mounts) the engineer usually specifies a wedge anchor or chemical anchor rather than a sleeve anchor.
  • Match the spec. Structural anchor designs under AS 5216:2021 are product-specific; substituting a Dynabolt where a Trubolt was specified is a downgrade in capacity.

Dynabolt is one product family in the broader anchors and chemical anchors market; structural anchor design sits under AS 5216:2021, called up by NCC 2022 Housing Provisions clause 2.2.4(6).

Also known as: Dynabolt, DynaBolt, Ramset Dynabolt.
