Terms of use
Use the wiki freely. Don't pretend it's legal or financial advice. Don't hammer the chat.
Who we are
Chalkline is operated by Dan Waring, sole trader, based in Naarm/Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. In these terms, "we", "us", and "Chalkline" refer to that business. "You" means the person using the site or the chat.
Acceptance
By using chalkline.com.au or the chat agent, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the site.
Wiki content
Wiki articles are general guidance for builders. We do our best to keep them current. They are not a substitute for advice from a lawyer, certifier, engineer, accountant, or your state's regulator. Confirm anything load-bearing against the official source before you act on it.
Chat agent
- Free tier: 10 questions per day per IP.
- The chat may be wrong. It cites sources where it can; verify them.
- Don't use the chat for personal data, client information, or commercially sensitive material.
- We may rate-limit, block, or disable the agent without notice.
Intellectual property and licence
Wiki content is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). You can reuse, adapt, and republish it, including commercially, provided you credit Chalkline and link back to the original article. The Chalkline name, wordmark, snap-line device, and other brand assets are not covered by the CC licence and remain our property. See the licence page for the full detail.
Acceptable use
- Don't scrape the site in ways that interfere with normal service. The published RSS, sitemap, llms.txt, and llms-full.txt cover most legitimate bulk access.
- Don't attempt to break, probe, or overload the chat agent or any other infrastructure.
- Don't submit unlawful, infringing, or abusive content through any form on the site.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Australian law, Chalkline is not liable for losses arising from use of this site or the chat agent. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Privacy
Information you provide is handled in line with our privacy policy.
Changes
We may update these terms. The current version is always the one on this page, with the "last updated" date below.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and Chalkline submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
