Trubolt: Ramset's wedge anchor
Trubolt is Ramset's brand of torque-controlled wedge anchor for structural fixings into concrete. See wedge anchor for the install rules and AS 5216 detail.
Ask Chalkline about this →Trubolt (often written TruBolt) is Ramset’s brand of torque-controlled wedge anchor for permanent structural fixings into concrete. It is the most-searched wedge-anchor brand on Australian sites, used everywhere structural steel meets concrete: post bases, balustrade fixings, plant mounts, retaining-wall connections.
What it actually is
The brand is the wrapper; the engineered product is a wedge anchor, a torque-controlled expansion anchor that locks into concrete as the nut is tightened (a hardened wedge at the base draws outward against the hole wall). Ramset sells the standard TruBolt and the heavier-duty TruBolt Xtrem variants.
The full picture (how the wedge mechanism grips, hole prep, torque, embedment depth, where wedge anchors suit vs sleeve anchors vs chemical anchors) lives in the canonical article: wedge anchor.
Why the brand matters
Two practical points for the builder:
- Structural use needs prequalification. Trubolt products carry a current European Technical Assessment (ETA), which provides the prequalification data required by AS 5216:2021 Appendix B for structural anchor design. A non-prequalified anchor cannot be used structurally even if it looks identical.
- Match the engineer’s spec. The engineer designs to a specific anchor product with specific embedment, edge distance, and spacing rules. Substituting “an equivalent” without checking the ETA capacity and the design parameters is a structural risk.
Trubolt is one product family in the broader anchors and chemical anchors market; the engineering is in AS 5216:2021, called up by NCC 2022 Housing Provisions clause 2.2.4(6) for structural fixings in residential work.
