Wedge anchor
A heavy-duty torque-controlled expansion anchor for permanent structural fixing into concrete. Ramset TruBolt is the common Australian example. AS 5216:2021.
Ask Chalkline about this →A wedge anchor (also called a stud anchor) is a heavy-duty, torque-controlled expansion anchor for permanent structural fixing into concrete. As the nut is tightened, a hardened wedge or clip at the base of the anchor body is drawn upward and forced outward against the hole wall, locking the anchor in place under high clamping load. The Ramset TruBolt and TruBolt Xtrem are the best-known wedge anchor products in Australian residential and commercial construction.
Wedge anchors are used for fixing structural steel column bases, post bases, beam seats, hold-down connections, and other permanent structural connections to existing concrete. They require more torque than sleeve anchors and are intended for permanent installation where the fixing is not intended to be removed. Minimum edge distances and spacing must comply with AS 5216:2021 or manufacturer technical data to prevent concrete cone breakout.
For any structural application, the anchor must be designed by a qualified structural engineer in accordance with AS 5216:2021. Products must be prequalified to AS 5216 Appendix A, or carry a current European Technical Assessment (ETA) compatible with AS 5216 Appendix B.
Also known as: stud anchor, expansion stud. The trade name TruBolt (Ramset) is widely used on Australian sites.
