WSC (Water Servicing Coordinator)

A Water Servicing Coordinator (WSC) is a firm accredited by Sydney Water to manage Section 73 Compliance Certificate applications on behalf of developers in the Sydney Water area of operations. WSCs act as the developer’s point of contact with Sydney Water: they prepare the servicing design, lodge the application, manage any required construction of water and sewer works, and deliver the completion package for Sydney Water to issue the Section 73 certificate (verified 2026-05-09 via Sydney Water: Section 73 Compliance Certificates and Sydney Water: Water Servicing Coordinators).

All WSCs hold Sydney Water designer accreditation. Larger or more complex projects (mains extensions, sewer junction cuts, easement works) must use a WSC rather than applying through the self-service Sydney Water Developer Direct pathway, which is limited to minor works on small-scale projects such as dual occupancies or 3 to 4-lot subdivisions. The WSC role is a Sydney Water-specific model; Hunter Water (Newcastle region) manages equivalent developer coordination directly through its own Development Assessment team and issues a Section 50 Compliance Certificate under the Hunter Water Act 1991.
