Puddle flange
A puddle flange is the fitting at a shower or wet area floor waste that provides a waterproof connection between the membrane and the drain. NCC 2022 mandated.
Ask Chalkline about this →A puddle flange (drainage flange) is a fitting installed at a shower or wet area floor waste outlet that provides a continuous waterproof connection between the waterproofing membrane and the drain body. The membrane is terminated at or into the flange, eliminating the gap between membrane and drain that is a common leak point.
Under NCC 2022 Housing Provisions Part 10.2.29, a drainage flange must be installed with the waterproofing membrane terminated at or in the flange to provide a waterproof connection. Floor wastes must also be at sufficient height to suit the combined thickness of the tile bed and tiles above. The puddle flange is typically installed by the plumber during the rough-in stage, before the waterproofer attends.
Missing or incorrectly height-set puddle flanges are among the most common wet area defects identified at PCI.
