Neutral cure silicone
Neutral cure silicone releases alcohol during curing rather than acetic acid, making it safe on stone, copper, and waterproofing membranes.
Ask Chalkline about this →Neutral cure silicone is a one-component silicone sealant that releases alcohol (rather than acetic acid) as it cures. This makes it safe to use on natural stone, copper, brass, bituminous waterproofing membranes, and most building substrates that acetoxy silicone would etch or corrode. On residential sites, neutral cure is the standard choice for wet-area tile joints, shower screen surrounds, plumbing fixture perimeters, and exterior window seals.
The cure is slightly slower than acetoxy (skin time 10 to 40 minutes vs 5 to 13 minutes), and the product costs a little more. For AS/NZS 4020:2018 potable water compliance, confirm the specific product data sheet, as not all neutral cure grades carry the rating. Neither neutral cure nor acetoxy silicone is paintable once cured.
