Carcass

A carcass is the structural box body of a cabinet, without doors, drawers or benchtop. Used in kitchen, bathroom and wardrobe cabinetmaking.

The carcass (also spelled carcase) is the structural box body of a cabinet: the sides, base, back panel, and top rail, assembled before doors, drawer fronts, shelving, or benchtop are fitted. On a kitchen installation, the carcasses are fixed to the wall and floor first; door fronts, hinges, and benchtop follow.
