Whole of Home (WoH)
Whole of Home is the NCC 2022 energy budget for fixed appliances (hot water, heating, cooling, lighting, PV), scored on points alongside the 7-star NatHERS rating.
Ask Chalkline about this →The energy budget introduced in NCC 2022 Part H6, sitting alongside the 7-star NatHERS thermal performance rating. WoH scores the regulated fixed appliances in a new home (hot water system, space heating and cooling, lighting, pool/spa pumps, plug-load allowance, on-site PV) on a points scale.
The thermal rating is about the building shell. WoH is about the services and on-site generation. A design must pass both.
A 7-star home with reverse-cycle heating/cooling, heat-pump hot water, and PV typically passes WoH easily. A 7-star home with bottled gas hot water and resistive heating typically won’t.
For NSW the equivalent compliance is via BASIX (enhanced from 1 May 2024 to align with 7-star + WoH).
