A waterproofer is a licensed trade contractor who specialises in applying waterproofing membranes, bond breakers, and associated sealants in wet areas such as showers, bathrooms, and laundries. In Australia, waterproofing is a licensed trade in all states: unlicensed wet area waterproofing work is a breach of building legislation and can result in insurance coverage issues on home warranty claims.

In NSW, a contractor licence is required for waterproofing work valued at more than $5,000 in labour and materials. The relevant qualification is a Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing (CPC31420 or equivalent). In Victoria, registration as a domestic builder (limited to waterproofing) is required through the VBA.

Also known as: licensed waterproofer, waterproofing contractor.
