WAPC (Western Australian Planning Commission)
What the WAPC is: WA's state planning decision-maker for significant developments, strategic planning, and subdivisions under the Planning and Development Act 2005.
Ask Chalkline about this →The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) is the state government body responsible for land use planning and development control across Western Australia under the Planning and Development Act 2005 (WA). The WAPC determines applications for significant development (generally $20M and above in the Perth and Peel regions, $5M and above elsewhere under the Part 11B pathway introduced by the Planning and Development Amendment Act 2023), approves subdivisions, prepares State Planning Policies (SPPs), and publishes the Residential Design Codes (R-Codes). For most residential building work, the WAPC is not the decision-maker: local governments determine development approvals for single houses, additions, and standard residential development.
