Ask Chalkline about this →A tiler (wall and floor tiler) is a trade contractor who fixes ceramic, porcelain, stone, mosaic, and similar tiles to floors, walls, and other surfaces. Tilers work in both dry areas (living areas, hallways) and wet areas (showers, bathrooms, laundries).
In wet area sequences, the tiler follows the waterproofer: the waterproofing membrane must be fully cured and certifier-inspected before tiling begins. Tilers should confirm the membrane inspection is signed off before starting; applying tile adhesive and grout to an uncured membrane can disrupt the curing chemistry on liquid-applied systems.
Tilers are typically responsible for the floor fall (confirming the 1:80 to 1:50 slope toward the drain is maintained in the tile bed) and for slip resistance outcomes. Slip resistance classifications for wet areas are set under AS 4586.
Also known as: wall and floor tiler, ceramic tiler.
