A sleeve anchor is a medium-duty, torque-controlled expansion anchor designed for post-installed fixing into concrete, brick, or block. A threaded bolt draws an expansion sleeve tight against the walls of the pre-drilled hole as the nut is tightened, creating a clamping load. The Ramset DynaBolt Plus is the best-known sleeve anchor in Australian residential construction and has been used on Australian sites for more than 50 years.

Common residential applications include fixing timber bottom plates to concrete slabs, attaching handrail and balustrade brackets, mounting window frames to masonry, and securing conduit and service brackets. Sleeve anchors are not suitable for use in hollow masonry blocks or hollow bricks; the expansion force splits the void rather than gripping the substrate.

For structural applications, sleeve anchors must be specified in accordance with AS 5216:2021 by a competent person. Non-structural applications may be governed by manufacturer technical data alone.

Also known as: expansion anchor, sleeve bolt. The trade name DynaBolt (Ramset) has become a generic term on Australian sites in the same way “Tek screw” is used generically.
