Ask Chalkline about this →RPEQ stands for Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland. Under the Professional Engineers Act 2002 (QLD), any engineer providing professional engineering services in Queensland must be registered as an RPEQ or work under the direct supervision of one. Registration is mandatory for structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, fire safety, and several other engineering disciplines (verified 2026-05-10, Board of Professional Engineers Queensland).
For residential building work in QLD, an RPEQ structural engineer must issue a Form 15 certifying that a structural design complies with the relevant standards, and a Form 12 certifying that the completed construction conforms with that design. Building certifiers require these forms before issuing Certificates of Occupancy.
Registration is administered by the Board of Professional Engineers Queensland (BPEQ) and requires an accredited engineering degree, relevant experience, and a competency demonstration.
