A landscape plan is a scaled drawing (and associated specifications) showing the proposed layout, levels, materials, and planting for the external areas of a residential project. A complete landscape plan typically includes a site plan with dimensions, levels and drainage intent, materials schedule (paving type, retaining wall type, fencing), plant schedule (species, size, spacing), and an irrigation layout.

Landscape plans are required by many councils as a DA condition for new dwellings, and are the base document from which the landscaper quotes and constructs. Without a landscape plan, lump-sum pricing is not possible and variations are likely. Councils may nominate a minimum bond or inspection condition tied to landscape plan compliance.

Also known as: landscape design, landscaping drawings.
