A Certificate of Electrical Safety (CES) is the Victorian form of electrical Certificate of Compliance. It’s lodged with Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) by the Registered Electrical Contractor (REC) responsible for the installation, certifying the work meets AS/NZS 3000 and the Electricity Safety Act 1998. CES forms come in two types: prescribed (for higher-risk work) and non-prescribed. The prescribed form requires inspection by a Licensed Electrical Inspector (LEI) before energisation. Without a lodged CES, the installation is not legally energised in Victoria.

Also known as: Certificate of Electrical Safety (full name).
