Bracing schedule

A bracing schedule lists every bracing panel in a timber-framed building: location, type, length, and capacity. Required on site at the frame inspection.

A bracing schedule is the engineering document that lists every wall bracing element in a timber-framed building: which wall line each panel is in, the type of bracing (structural plywood sheet, fibre cement sheet, diagonal strap, proprietary system), the panel length in metres, and the bracing unit (BU/m) capacity it provides. The schedule also states the total bracing demand for each wall line and confirms supply meets demand.

Under AS 1684.2:2021, bracing demand is calculated from the wind classification and the building geometry. The bracing schedule translates that calculation into an installation instruction for the framing crew.

The bracing schedule must be on site at the frame inspection. The principal certifier cross-references each installed bracing panel against it to verify type, location, and fixing. Missing or mislocated panels fail the inspection.

Also known as: wall bracing schedule, bracing design.
